Hotel Capitan Suizo

My husband and I just returned from 11 days in Costa Rica. We spent 5 nights at Captain Suizo and overall it was a nice experience. The staff was probably one of the nicest we have ever encountered. The front desk was very helpful and spoke excellent English, which was great because our Spanish is very poor. Diego, one of... more

We were very impressed with the hotel's staff and cleanliness. Although the rooms are a little tight, we weren't in Costa Rica to spend our time in the room! The entire staff was exceptionally friendly and answered many questions for us. Breakfast and free wireless were included in our rate. The breakfast is provided by a quaint French bakery across... more

This hotel exceeded my expectations. Far better than the 3 star rating would have you believe. The food was excellent every night with plenty of choice and friendly staff. But beware, the Raccoons will try to join you for food which was fun! The rooms were clean and we even got to see monkey's in the trees opposite our balcony.... more

Hotel Arco Iris

Nov 5, 2008

After having spent a few too many nights in mildewy hostels, I walked by Arco Iris and decided I'd give it a shot on my last day in town. The place is indeed newly remodeled and it looks absolutely fantastic. The pool is great, the bar/restaurant is great for sipping cocktails, grabbing some free breakfast or checking your email (free... more

My husband and I (he's French) stayed in Tamarindo for a week and we ate at several restaurants. However, NONE compared to the delicacies offered by La Laguna Del Cocodrilo Restaurant. The food was so fabulous, we returned several times. Highlights were the Costa Rican Fresh Fish Bouillabaisse (the best my husband ever had), the signature Duck Confit Salad, the... more

Fantastic experience. I had read bad reviews about the food, but found it to be wonderful! The people were the most friendly we have ever been in contact with on any vacation. We had an incredible time from start to finish. Will return next year with many friends and family members. Rick Texas more

My boyfriend and I loved this place. It reminded us of how Pasatiempo was in the past, small, peaceful and a great place to make new friends. Even though we were there during the rainy season we still enjoyed ourselves. The owner, Richard, is a friendly person and quite helpful. We spent many hours on the patio reading and playing... more

My husband and I spent eight days of our honeymoon. The hotel facility, grounds and staff were exceedingly lovely. When we checked in we were given a coupon redeemable for two free drinks at the hotel bar. Our bungalow, Bungalow One, was not yet ready and so we headed down to the bar. The bar and restuarant were beautiful. At... more

Though I did not stay here, I have to rave about the customer service. I was planning to stay here in April 2009 for my honeymoon. So about two months ago we put a deposit for 858 dollars. Due to the economy, we decided to scale our honeymoon/wedding plans. But wasn't unsure if I would get my deposit back since... more

Back in June I did a surf trip to Tamarindo, Costa Rica and stayed at Witchs Rock Surf Camp. I had a stellar time and caught some of the best waves of my life. I was really impressed with the property, its staff, and the awesome vibe there. This is a great destination for surfers of all levels. Witchs Rock... more

We've arrived to Mamiri hotel during October 2008, and it's one of the best places I've been to at Costa Rica. The staff is great, the room is clean with safe, refrigirator, nice furniture and clean bathroom with hot shower. There is alot of public place with nice kitchen and overall, a great atmosphere. Definetely a true great value for... more

I have been meaning to write this for over two months as I really loved my stay and wanted to share this information. This is a special place where you would be fine alone or with a friend. It's simplicity is what makes it so relaxing. The pool where I spent my days was gorgeous. It is surrounded by flowers... more

Vista Villas made our first trip to Costa Rica just what we needed! The hotel has a great feel to the place, the staff is warm and welcoming, the bartenders remember what you order every day, the cleaning staff are friendly and creative with how they fold your towels! I especially liked to see what kind of bird or flower... more

We stayed with Barry and Suzie for our honeymoon in August. We can think of no other way to describe our stay then PERFECT!! We stayed in the Russian villa, and the accommodations were amazing. We had tons of space, our own private deck, and AC!!! The entire villa is amazing, a short walk off the beach, but close enough... more

For those who want to escape the blandness of chain hotels and want a unique and personal travel experience, look no further than Casa Cook. This small gem has only 4 units and is a true slice of heaven. The location on one of the most beautiful breaks in Tamarindo is quiet and feels private, but is only a short... more

Media Naranja is one of the best restaurants that we have ever been to eat...anywhere. We went back quite a few times during our honeymoon because we could not get enough! The appetizers are amazing and the main dishes are SO good. We tried most of them and I really cant chose a favorite. The banana cakes are incredible for... more

Over labor day, I was sunbathing at a Jersey Beach, and happened to overhear some surfer girls talk about an awesome surf camp in Costa Rica. I had never surfed before, and the idea of learning really intrigued me. I had also been wanting to visit Costa Rica for some time. As soon as I got home, I googled and... more

Pura Vida Hostel

Oct 11, 2008

I went around town checking prices and what each had to offer. JC and Friends (recommended by Lonley Planet) no longer offers hot water, internet or breakfast, but, they still charge $28 (16,800C) a night. Pura Vida Hostel is clean, friendly, comfortable and close to the beach. Def. recommend for budget travelers as well as for couples. more

I cannot believe this hotel is 3 star, as it had 4 star standards. Beautiful, clean, full of nature, so many different birds, howler monkeys, racoons and iguanas and the most helpful and smiley staff. The food was great and had variety with different themed nights from Spanish to authentic Costa Rican. The pool is lovely. The only downer for... more
