If you are new york city....catch the water taxi... 30 dollars for a tour which takes you to all the sights....and this fee includes a hop on and hop off fee. This allows you to get on and off around Manhattan. The staff are great and very friendly. They will take pictures of you and your signifigant other with your... more

We stayed in the Comfort Inn in Long Island City to avoid the huge costs closer to Manhattan. I have to be honest. The area this hotel is in is really scary. Looks "ghettoish" (please forgive me I am not a racist...but that's the only term I can think of) The little strips and restaurants the block right up from... more

The hotel was truly excellent and substantially exceeded my expectations. I stayed with my wife and 2 children (10 & 16) in a room with 2 Queen Beds. I booked it via the Claron Hotels website a few days before but they then gave me an unsolicited further 10% off at check for AAA (in fact my British AA card).... more

This hotel is affordable by NY standards and is a great alternative to staying in Manhattan. The #7 train was right in front of the hotel. It was very easy to get to this hotel via MTA from JFK. Not to meantion, the train ran frequently and most important the neighborhood was safe. The room was an adequate size for... more

We stayed at this brand new property between Aug. 4th to 7th 2008. We found it on the Days Inn site without pictures and decide to try it anyway. For sure the hotel needs some fine tuning as it is a brand new property. The location is perfect since, first of all, it is located less than 2 blocks from... more

I was there on July 4th, 2008....From what the papers say it was Macys that changed the location & told all the businesses in LIC & Jackson Heights the view would be the same. When I called they were very accomodating and refunded 1/2 of my total bill.......I have since returned to Water's Edge and the service from the minute... more

Having just returned from New York, I have nothing but positive things to say. The hotel is wonderful-not the luxury hotels in Manhattan but a great value. Getting to the subway is easy and getting to downtown Manhattan was a breeze. I absolutely would stay here again. Rooms were clean, breakfast good and staff was helpful and friendly. Our flight... more

Upsides: comfortable, clean, and new Downsides: 1. Not the best location for tourists. Only a 10 minute cab ride from Midtown or a 10 minute walk to the nearest subway station, but there is absolutely NOTHING around the hotel in the ways of food or things to do. 2. We stayed on the first floor (on a budget), and the... more

We really liked our experience at La Quinta Inn. Clean room, comfortable beds, simple but free breakfast and good location. Very close to the subway station, restaurants and grocery store. We ate at Pete's Grill: Excellent! Definitely beats staying at an expensive hotel in Manhattan. Only 15 minutes by subway to Time Square. more

This 4th of July was our 15th wedding anniversary. After doing my homework and researching several options I settled on Waters Edge Restaurant. When I contacted the restaurant directly, I was told that they were fully booked. I was able to get a reservation through American Express Platinum Concierge, but had to pay at the time of reservation and was... more

Hotel is in an excellent location, seconds away from the Queensboro Plaza station which runs the N-W-7 trains. Boyfriend and I felt extremely safe on subways and in the area of the hotel even late at night. Front desk staff is very friendly and approachable. They were very knowledgeable about the area and areas in Manhattan for things to do.... more

As others have said, neighborhood is not the best. Industrial, secluded and a little scary at night (but we didn't see any people outside that made us feel unsafe). View of a scrap yard out window is a real NY experience. My husband saw a rat as big as a cat come out of there during the night. Mostly, we... more

Finding an affordable good valued hotel in new york city can be quite a challange. Our main goal was to find something close to the subway. I was a little worried about this hotel from the start but once I arrived I was so pleasently surprised. It was in a great location near the subway. There is a mcdonalds right... more

I booked this hotel through Priceline. I got a very good deal judging by the listed price (nearly 1/2 off). Overall I was very satisfied. I came to NY to accompany my 20 year old daughter who was attending a class near Grand Central. It worked out really well for us. She attended class and I went sightseeing. It was... more

I normally stay in one of the business hotels in Midtown, but on this trip was unable to find a single room in all of Manhattan for less than $1000 per night. I was a little concerned about staying here, since it seems never to have been reviewed, but since it was near three separate subway stations each 5-10 min... more

Our flt from LaGuardia to Kansas City got cancelled and we were told we had to spend another night before traveling. We were with a group of 15 women, hot and tired of the airport, hungry. We called the nearest hotel, the Queens/Long Island Fairfield Inn, and were told they would be happy to accommodate us and would send a... more

Our family stayed here for 10 nights (2 adults, 3 teens) and agree with the positive reviews. We used as a home base and used an unlimited subway pass to see the other areas of NYC. Breakfast was simple but very good - can't beat fresh NY bagels and fruit to get you started each day. The attendant in the... more

A nice medium sized hotel that's handy for Manhattan but doesn't charge Manhattan prices. The hotel is on Queens Boulevard, about halfway between the 33rd and 40th street stops on the 7 line subway. It's an easy walk, even in the heat of summer (it was over 90F when I stayed). The subway will get you to Grand Central or... more

I came for a short business trip to Newyork City, Being Newyork a very costly place, initially I could not find the best budget hotel. Waterfront Crab House

Jul 13, 2008

We were three couples last night at the Waterfront Crab House. The decor was campy, like Rye playland. The one plus was seating -- we had a large banquette in a back room that was quiet and we could chat. Food was a different story. New England Clam Chowder was a watery mess. The salad had stale leaves and was... more
