The best time to visit Queen Victoria Market is early on a Saturday morning - before 1000 when the crowds start to appear. It is owned by the City of Melbourne. You may hear occasional announcements about the need to be careful with your wallets and purses: I have never had a problem, and only those who were extremely careless... more

It's busy, vibrant and cheap! I saw an exact blouse in one of the shops in Philip Island and it's 10 bucks more than at QV. One must buy is its honey-roasted macadamia nuts which is so irresistible. Also, take time to browse through the various souvenirs and cutesy items. There are sure bound to be surprises! Oh and the... more

The Victoria Night Market, which runs during the Australian summer months, was an unexpected surprise on the night of our arrival. It had pretty much every type of food you could want and the most stunning Australian wines to wash it down with. If you need to buy tourist tat for relatives, pop back to the day market. You can... more

Never miss an opportunity to visit Queen Victoria Market. Enjoy seeing all the varieties of fresh fish myriad fruit and vegetables, and the cold cuts and cheeses. We always buy some fresh local fruit for taking back to our hotel room. Found a few reasonably priced souvenirs also. Had a roll and coffee there for breakfast. Nice to see the... more

Opened in 1878, the Queen Victoria Market is more than just Melbourne’s shopping mecca. This 19th century market is a historic landmark, tourist attraction and an institution for all Melburnians. Fresh is the flavour of the market. More than fresh seafood and fresh fruits and vegetables, the market takes a fresh approach. Find clothing, baggage, toys, jewellery, new-age products and... more

It's very similar to flea market in America, but it has much more to choose from than just "garage sale" items. They have everything from Uggs to fresh Meat & Fish. This place, seriously, has everything. There are ATMs & restrooms on premis. There is also a little bar with super friendly service. And this place is HUGE !! With... more

I've been here on two different trips..a good idea is to leave it till the end of your trip if you are in melbourne. The prices are really good especially if you are a brit! and they sell 'bumper packs' of souvenirs that are ideal to bring home especially if you have lots of kiddies, workmates etc to buy for..eg... more
