We travelled on Milford Sound with the Real Journeys Nature Cruise. It was awesome. Great commentary, friendly staff, lovely boat and free hot drinks. But the scenery was the top attraction. Thanks Real Journeys more

Did the Milford Sound bus & cruise tour with 'Real Journeys' from Queenstown. Be prepared if going by bus as it's a 5 hour journey there and 5 hr's return. Stay at Te Anau overnight to break journey if you can, as it's a very pretty spot on the lakefront and there's plenty of accommodation. It just shortens the journey.... more
Toured Milford sound by ship with Holland america Line. It was cloudy and foggy but the scenery was fabulous. The many waterfalls and the mountains plunging directly into the sound was unlike any other scenery I had ever seen. pr stewart more
Milford Sound is well worth the day trip!! We stayed in Queenstown and in a rental made the drive to Milford. We'd read in some stupid guide books (2 separate ones, in fact) that it was 2.5 hours there. Okay, that is NOT TRUE. Plan for 4.5-5 hours one way drive. (Total drive time 9-10 hours) That is a lot... more
We thought that after Fox Glacier and Queenstown, Milfor Sound would have to be something pretty special to beat the scenery and features of thos places. Milford Sound fulfilled that. We chose the cruise that left mid-morning and arrived back early afternoon before all of the tour buses arrived. The scenery is spectacular. We experienced all of the subtle differences... more
When I was travelling with friends 4 weeks through New Zealand we also stopped by at Milford Sound. If you are ever in the area take part in a morning canoe paddling tour through the sound, you will most likely encounter otters and dolphins. It was just amazing! ;) more
Milford Sound was one of the most beautiful places we had ever been. We had arrived in Queenstown from New York and only had one day to make the trip to Milford Sound as the following day was Christmas and nothing was open. We had decided on real journeys and opted to take the bus, nature cruise and fly home.... more
Milford Sound and the drive there rank as some of the best scenery I saw in New Zealand. The road there has breathtaking views of mountains and snow, but take care as it has the sharpest bends i've seen on any roads and has a high accident rate and high risk of injury if involved in an accident. The Homer... more
milford sound boasts some of new zealand's most spectacular scenary. beautiful all year round, the day cruise on one of the several boats offers a truely memorable experience with amazing waterfalls, jaggared cliff faces and rare and exotic wildlife. the beauty of this region can be seen even before you reach the sound. there is very little accommodation in milford... more
Milford Sound is a wonderful place to visit, even on the slightly overcast day we went. The boat cruises are all around NZ$70 for around 2 hours and we got up close to waterfalls, saw dolphins and seals and even made it out to the Tasman Sea. We drove from Te Anau to Milford (around 2 hours non-stop), which allowed... more
