We went to diamond head at the end of septemher. We got there around 8:00am. There were people coming down and not many people going up at that time. The way up there wasn't as bad as what I read in the review. I believed anybody can do it. My 4 years old was able to walk all the way... more
After reading all the reviews our family made an effort to hike up Diamond Head on our trip to Honolulu last month. Honestly it wasn't as bad as I had imagined. There were little rest areas along to way so you can catch your breath and take pictures. We went at our own pace and made it up to the... more
Just returned from Honolulu and my husband and I did the Diamond Head walk. After reading reviews about the difficulty and how strenuous the walk was I had my reservations worrying that it would be beyond my capabilities but it was much easier than I had envisaged. I agree with other reviews that you should go early because it gets... more
If you ever go to Honolulu, this is the place that you should visit. My mom and I were visiting my uncle and his family. It was a tiring hike, but none of us minded. The first part of the hike seems that you're walking on a sidewalk, but after a while it gets steeper and it turns into soil.... more
The hike is a challenge. Be sure to wear comfortable sneakers, the ground is uneven and people wearing sandles were slipping here and there. The staircases are long and narrow and you have to duck through a little passageway to get to the top. Go Early! The top of Diamond Head has great views of the ocean and the mountains... more

We saw tour buses of Japanese tourists walking in about a half mile and trust me you don't want the extra exertion before you make the... more
Our group of 9 arrived mid morning (in June) and, as we had seen at many Hawaiian sights, the parking lot and waiting line were full, so we'd either have to park further downhill or come back later. We tried again 15 minutes later and we're able to pay and get into the waiting line and were parked within 5... more
We did this hike with a few people in their 50's who don't work out much, and they did it fine. Take plenty of water and take your time. Also, go early when you can get some occasional shade. The views at the top are really nice. I found it a bit unusual to have such a good hiking experience... more
My wife and I went on our honeymoon, took the bus (#22,23,24 I think) and walked in for $1 each. We decided to use this opportunity for a nice workout. Now we are not work out fanatics, but try to hit the Gym twice a week. So I set a brisk walking pace up the hill and my wife was... more
