The hotel is pretty cheap for central Edinburgh; the area may seem a bit dodgy but I know the city and actually it's fine, and pretty quiet even on a Friday night. The staff are friendly and the hotel is clean and seems fairly well run - but was last renovated in 1987 and man does it show. But it's... more

Hotel is nicely located to bus stops and Haymarket Train Station. Small, simple and clean. Full breakfast is offered and is quite good. The rooms are suitable as long as you are there strictly for sleep. Rooms are very hot and will require an open window. But be warned there is a TON of construction going on right outside the... more

Myself and my husband stayed there 6th of July for 3 nights. It is a nice clean place with friendly staff. The room was a nice size and clean, as was the en-suite. The breakfast was a buffet you could have as much of what ever you wanted. It is in a brillant location only 5 -10 min walk to... more

A "find". Booked through Hotelopia.co.uk at discounted rate (rack rate of £170+ is prohibitive) Excellent breakfast (chef was P&O trained). Good bus links to city centre, Holyrood House and RY Britannia. A few minutes from new Conference Centre but no parking more

I stayed at Herald House Hotel at the beginning of June, as I was passing through Edinburgh and needed somewhere to stay overnight. My room was small but clean, the en-suite shower room was easily the smallest I've ever seen, but perfectly functional. My only gripe was the size of the bed - it was a small single, and I'm... more

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from a weekend break staying at the Herald House Hotel. Upon arrival we were checked in quickly and given room 315 which was in the corner of the top floor of the hotel. The room was clean, quiet , smelt lovely and although small, was plenty big enough for the 2 of us.... more

Stayed two nights at the Herald House for my birthday. Rooms clean and tidy with a decent bathroom though I couldn't get the shower to work properly (my bloke managed it so must have been a blonde thing!) Paid £118 for the 2 of us for 2 nights which included breakfast. Bit outside the city centre, but bus stop literally... more

We stayed hat the hotel last night for just one night. Firstly the good points, it was easy to find and i didn't think it was that far out from the city centre. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bed was quite comfortable. There is a nice bar downstairs. Bad points: The room was boiling, and very small.... more

A great find, would recommend without hesitation.Considering we were staying in a capital city the price for this hotel was amazing. We felt our room was clean and though small had all we required including good shower and tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast was excellent and there is a small bar should you require a late night tipple! Our room was... more
