I was a little apprehensive to say the least about my stay at anaco as i had read reviews and whilst generally good there were some bad ones. However i was pleasantly surprised. It is a somewhat quirky hotel in terms of decor (lots of wood panelling and 70's extras) but the rooms were clean and the staff were really... more

What a horrible place! Dark, dirty, broken furniture, unclean bathroom, constant smell of smoke everywhere (if that was a non-smoking room, than why are there two astrays on the "table"). The hotel is situated close to the Grand Via Metro station - yes, but in order to get to the hotel, you must walk thro dark alley with prostitutes standing... more

This is our second trip to Madrid and a return to Anaco. You cannot find a better location - 200 meters from Gran Via Metro stop (and a McDonald's - if you're into that sort of thing), a short walk to Puerto del Sol, a block from Grand Via and some of the best shopping in the world. The adjacent... more

It's nice hotel in good price, rooms are clean, air condition is very good, location is excellent! just few meters from gran via underground station. of course it's not luxury hotel, typical ***, but it's ideal for few days in Madrid. I booked my stay by hostelworld.com and i really advise it! more

One advantage of the Anaco is the bar. It's not the usual "cocktail" bar but a typical (i.e. slightly scruffy) Madrid tapas bar much frequented by locals so it's a great place to observe or take part in Madrid bar life without even leaving your hotel. Prices are ridiculously cheap compared with UK. They do six different breakfasts that range... more

When I first saw the hotel, I was very scared to enter. The outside looks terrible. However, it is clean and comfortable inside. Also, it's a great price. The location is really good, although the street it's on looks a little scary at night. It also had a tv and a decent bathroom with a hairdryer in the room. more

Our family used the Anaco Hotel as a base in Madrid for two separate nights in July 2007. We were visiting other parts of Spain, but flew into and out of Madrid and thought it would be easiest to stay in the city coming and going. In short, the Anaco met our needs. The positives have mostly been noted elsewhere:... more

I arrived in Madrid a day earlier than scheduled so I looked around the neighborhood of the hotel I had a reservation at. Every place I checked was full. I hestitated before heading into this hotel, but did. They had one room left for 60 euro. The decor of the room has not been changed since Franco was alive. Horrible... more

We were in the hotel in March. Madrid is an immense city with thousand possibilities of leisure and this hotel allows you to have them within reach (a superb situation). The rooms are clean and the amiable treatment. We often go to Madrid, and without a doubt we will repeat in this hotel. more

My fiancee and I stayed here for four nights in late Jan 07 and found it comfortable and roomie relative to other Madrid hotels in this price range. However, we did manage to get a decent discount on the published rate, so at €60+tax (about €65) it was a good deal. For more than that, there are better deals to... more
