This is our second trip to Madrid and a return to Anaco. You cannot find a better location - 200 meters from Gran Via Metro stop (and a McDonald's - if you're into that sort of thing), a short walk to Puerto del Sol, a block from Grand Via and some of the best shopping in the world. It's nice hotel in good price, rooms are clean, air condition is very good, location is excellent! just few meters from gran via underground station. of course it's not luxury hotel, typical ***, but it's ideal for few days in Madrid. One advantage of the Anaco is the bar. It's not the usual "cocktail" bar but a typical (i.e. slightly scruffy) Madrid tapas bar much frequented by locals so it's a great place to observe or take part in Madrid bar life without even leaving your hotel. When I first saw the hotel, I was very scared to enter. The outside looks terrible. However, it is clean and comfortable inside. Also, it's a great price. The location is really good, although the street it's on looks a little scary at night. It also had a tv and a decent bathroom with a hairdryer in the room. more

I arrived in Madrid a day earlier than scheduled so I looked around the neighborhood of the hotel I had a reservation at. Every place I checked was full.
