Booked in to the Shelbourne Logde for a weekend for a special romantic getaway with my boyfriend. However when we arrived they had overbooked and could not offer us a room. The lady at the reception was most rude and not concerned at our predictament. We were so looking forward to staying here but it did not happen. The overall... more

Shelbourne Lodge is a great B&B in the quaint little town of Kenmare. Location is wonderful. Easy walking distance into Kenmare and plenty of parking. The rooms in the carriage house were large with comfortable beds. The owners were gracious and helpful and wonderful cooks. They had tea and biscuits for us on arrival with fresh fruit. They grow their... more

I enjoyed our stay at the Shelburne, which was marred only by the fact that we had an accident with our rental car the first day of our trip. We managed to get the car to Kenmare on a donut tire, and spend the next few days dealing with fixing the car. The breakfast at the lodge was fabulous -... more

We stayed at the Shelburne Lodge for one night in October 2007. This was our favorite accomodation during our entire 2 week vacation in Ireland. The grounds were beautiful, the staff were attentive and friendly and the rooms were charming, comfortable and quite. Oh - the breakfast is fantastic as well! Highly recommend - wish we could have stayed longer! more

We stayed at the Shelburne Inn for two nights in late September. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Kenmare, and were delighted with our room--plenty large, nice king size bed for my king sized husband and very adequate bathroom. Tom and Maura were very accommodating and their breakfast was one of the best we had during our trip. My husband... more

The B&B is in an old historic house, very well maintained, in a quiet area only 10-15 minutes walk to town. In the evening, the fireplace warms up the living room, which is stuffed with books and magazines. It was very nice that the room had its own thermostat and a heating unit, since the days were rainy and chilly,... more

The room we had was up the stairs with large windows and a large bathroom. Wonderful comfortable bed and very romantic ! Our hosts got us a reservation at Packies which is associated with the... more

We stayed at Shelburne Lodge from Sept. 8 - 15, 2007 and couldn't have had a more wonderful stay. The rooms are lovely, the hosts gracious and helpful, and the place is situated a short walk into town. The breakfasts, as others have noted, are fabulous. I'm not fond of oatmeal but loved the porridge with either honey cream or... more

Staying at the Shelburne Lodge was truly enjoyable. The house and surrounding grounds are beautiful and peaceful. Tom, Maura and Eileen couldn't have done more to make our stay better. The food was delicious and prepared with great attention. Our attractive room was immaculate and comfortable. Quality sheets and towels were changed every day. There was always plenty of help... more

From the amazing breakfast of fresh fruit or simple selections [my favorite was the porridge with whiskey cream] to the second course including the 'Full Irish Breakfast' - all of which was delicious and beautifully presented, to the helpful recommendations [and maps] for newcomers of places to see in the town and in the neighboring peninsulas, to the offer to... more
