We spent 5 awesome days at Thala lodge. We had a gorgeous room with a view of the beach and sea which was a bonus and we weren't expecting it. It is the most stunning place, very well planned so it fits into the environment and offers secluded cabins. I loved having to go for a coastal bushwalk to go... more

The hotel is a good 10 min drive from Port Douglas and has stunning views, but we found the rooms to be quite tired - certainly not a five star standard. Saying that the staff were very friendly, the food was excellent, its on a huge plot of land- a walk from rooms to reception. I liked it but I... more

We were lucky to spend 5 days with friends at Thala in August 2008. A unique resort and location and ideal for a quiet relaxing holiday. We were lucky to have booked the Sandpiper Suite which was a bit over our budget but worth it for the location and views of the beach and ocean. Our friends had a standard... more

7th to 12th June 2008 Our stay at Thala followed a drive from Broome to Kununurra along the Gibb River Road. Our expectations of luxury after the wilderness camps of the Kimberley were fully realised, not only in the material sense, but in the warmth of welcome throughout our stay from every member of staff. We were lucky enough to... more

Magnificent eco-resort on massive parcel of land right on a superb private beach. Accommodation consists of private five-star bungalows, scattered through the forest and connected by a network of gravel paths. Ours was a ‘Eucalypt bungalow’, with views out to the forest and sea. The bungalow is simple, and like all the Thala buildings, made of natural, local materials –... more

Sitting in Hong Kong on my way back to the States after a week long stay at Thala. Where to begin? Do you like nature? Do you like waking up to the sound of tropical birds, going for walks and encountering wallabies, bandicoots, lorikeets, lizards etc.? Maybe even spot turtles or whales? If so, Thala is the place. The room... more

Thala Beach Lodge is exquisite. My wife and I had for ages read reviews of the resort before leaving for here on part of our honeymoon. We arrived late afternoon and were greeted by Damon, who sent us upstairs to the bar for our arrival drinks, parked our car, and brought our luggage to our room. We have never experienced... more

The Thala Beach Resort is an amazing paradise, where you can relax in the middle of wildlife and tranquillity. The beach huts/lodges are beautiful and perfectly equipped. Recommend the coconut safari, which is fun and informative and the sky gazing which was an unexpected treat. Food was excellent and we had an all inclusive deal. I would highly recommend the... more

My wife and I (seniors both ) stayed here for seven days , to find a place to "chill out" and to escape the cold weather down south...we are from Sydney. We loved the bush setting, the tropical feel, the privacy , the colourful birds at breakfast , the private beach for a mile walk in the early morning, the... more
