There is a lot to commend Msambweni House, and it's impossible not to admire what the Belgian owner Frederick has put into creating this small chic gem, against the odds. The setting is beautiful, the house is stunning, the rooms are spacious, clean and charming -- with wonderful private outdoor space -- and there are some great touches that bigger... more

It's very rare that accomodation matches up to your expecations but Msambweni took our breath away. The website captures the perfectly relaxed atmosphere and you really do feel like you are in someone's prrivate house for a holiday. We spent 6 nights at the tail end of your honeymoon in Kenya and we couldn't have been better looked after. The... more

Msambweni house is a wonderful place to stay, relax, unwind and get away from the buzz of normal life. We stayed in one of the rooms in the house; the bedroom was beautiful with a huge bed and a bath big enough for three. Our balcony took up most of the back of the house looking out onto the infinity... more

This is just a fabulous hotel. Small, charming, aesthetic, excellent service, exquisit dining (thanks Nancy). We rent the Lamu Villa I with the the private swimming pool for two weeks: the privacy of a villa with the service of a hotel but the hotel is small so staying at the hotel is as fine. Frederik Vanderhoeven took care of all... more

We just spent three lovely days at Msambweni house. The place is absolutely amazing. The place, the beach, the design - everything is just perfect. The food was also fantastic (and we did have very high expectations) so compliments to the chef! Foodwise, I only have one complaint: Every night they serve small bitings with the drinks, and the first... more

We just got back from a 10 day stay at Msambweni House and words cannot do the experience justice. We've travelled a lot and stayed in many great hotels around the world, and have to say this stands out as one of the best... mainly because you don't feel like you're in a hotel (more an exclusive villa) and the... more

I stayed at Msambweni House with my girlfriend and had a truly memorable experience. We stayed in one of the lama villas with our own jacuzzi and a beautiful good sized swimming pool. The food was excellent and I loved being surprised each evening with a differnet choice of dinner location - the beach, pool side or the tented area.... more

I have known the owner of the property at university (we go back more than 10 years), and have since then visited his project 'Val des Roses' at Antibes (France) many times and was never disappointed with the stay and service. So my expectations were very high for this one, as this was my first real holiday exceeding one week... more

Having lived in Kenya as expatriates for nearly six years, we have seen a lot of beautiful places at the coast. This time, we actually sought to stay at Manda Bay, but then learned of this place from a colleague who happened to walk by. When we arrived, we immediately knew we did right....WHAT A GEM!!! This is top amongst... more
