My husband and I stay frequently at the Michelangelo as we travel often to SA. the hotel itself is lovely, but the lack of a spa and an outdoor pool is unacceptable in a 5 star hotel these days. The pool is a small round indoor pool with very little seating. There is a double door leading outsdie to a... more

Stayed there for 7 nights in July 08. Well located on Mandela Square in Sandton so plenty of restaurants around. Indian and Thai next door both good but highest recommendation goes to Butcher Shop on the square. Top class. Staff are good but sometimes try a bit too hard (presentation of breakfast involves 1-2-3 Voila!). Rooms are good size, as... more

The hotel is honestly very nice! But I chose a non-smoking room, and the guest in the room next to mine was chain smoking even though we were on a non-smoking floor. He was suffering from jet lag probably because he smoked all night and I could smell every cigarette because it was coming through the linking doors. I complained... more

We had a superb stay at the Michaelangelo which is a very classy hotel in a more timeless style - think chintz, heavy brocade, gilty mirrors etc. The location is perfect - the hotel is right in Nelson Mandela Square which is alive with cafes and people and is surrounded by probably the best shopping I've seen in a while... more

The reason why I am giving this hotel an above average rating is not because of how the hotel and its service is but because of its superb location. It is situated between the convention center, lively malls and great restaurants. The area is also quite safe and the people are very nice. However, the hotel itself is not up... more

The Indian Restaurant here is spectacular--it is by far THE BEST Indian I have ever had. The Thai Restaurant was also one of the best! The hotel amenities are beyond--truly a 5 star. Beds were turned over every night, with chocolates, robes, new slippers. Room service was not as great, it was slow and the food not so great, I... more

We ended a 17 day South African odessy with a two night stay at the Michalangelo Towers. What a fantastic place! The two level suite was to die for and the front desk staff and all other staff were exceptionally helpful. I really can't say enough about this place. more

Arrival at the hotel was smooth, as was the check in process. I was booked into a deluxe room. These are larger then the standard rooms, with a sitting area consisting of a sofa, coffee table, and TV cabinet with mini bar and TV. This is a step down area from the main room. The deluxe rooms are on the... more

We sure had a different experience than those that wrote negative reviews. We had absolutely no complaints. The hotel is beautiful, our rooms were great, overlooking Nelson Mandla square and connected to an upscale shoppig mall. The bar area is lovely with a fountain, scultures etc. The staff was very accomadating, the included breakfast was delicious. We would highly recommend... more

We stayed for two nights in this hotel, rooms are old and not so nice but the bathroom is very nice with marble and all the amenities you might need. The hotel is connected to a mall which can be convenient for those who like to shop.. more
