We stayed at the National for a week in July, on honeymoon. OK its not perfect, but I don't think anyone will be disappointed in it. Went there on business January 2006. This is a hotel from the 1930s(?) that has been refurbished - where they tried to keep some of the older stuff, like tiling in the bathroom to retain that feel, you could sense the wear and tear. This is a gorgeous hotel in a prime location. Very clean and luxurious, the rooms are pretty spacious and minimalistic with classy art deco furniture. 24 hour room service is nice, sometimes slow to come and they charge you a $3 charge plus 9% extra for all room service. we stayed at the national on june 18 19 of 2008. The place was great. Beautiful pool and beach. Location was ok. You have valet parking. We had breakfast at a little french sidewalk cafe next door. more

I just wanted to inform anyone who is a Platinum card member of American Express to never stay at the National Hotel. I had to stay there because all of the other "Fine hotels and Resort" properties on the beach where booked already and this one was recommended last. And now I can see why. My husband and I just got back from a weekend at the National. We went with two other couples and we all had a great time. We had a suite that is located by the pool. The room was big and had a nice balcony. Very comfy bed, nice sheets etc. Both of the other couples had standard rooms one... more
