We had reservations for 3 nights starting on Sept 23. We checked out early after the first night, and found other accommodations. I'd never stay there again!! The room temperature was pre-set at 78 degrees. There was no way to cool it down--via thermostat, or the staff at the desk. We were told they could do nothing about it. We... more

My mother and I stayed here because it was the host of the marathon events, and we got it for nearly nothing through an American Airlines Vacations package deal. We knew from the reviews that it wasn't a very nice hotel, but we were willing to give it a try for the price. We ended up with a smoking room... more

Looked promising in reception area, but our room in Aspen Tower was very tired, basic and needed redecorating. Staff were not helpful/friendly and not at all interested in improving our stay in any way. Pool area was closed - ie you could sit out in the rather pleasant pool area, but you had to sit on the floor. This was... more

The immediate area is a something of nothing place with little to offer. The hotel room was tired and in need of a face lift, it had a dirty bathroom and stained bedding and towels. The casino was rough which seemed to match the clientele. A POOR MAN'S LAS VEGAS The hotel also offered poor choice and quality of food.... more

The beds are so uncomfortable. WE couldn't get a good night sleep. The walls are thin. Our friends and I actually got sick because its stuffy. The ventilation is so bad. WE all got sore throats from the smoke. And get this they charged us $5.00 resort fee. This was not a resort. It was dumpy hotel that desperately needs... more

We wanted something closer to Yosemite National Park but decided on staying here because the rate was alot cheaper! After booking we read some of the reviews on here and got a little worried because of them but we decided not to cancel. When we arrived we were glad we didn't, the views in South Lake Tahoe are incredible!!! We... more

Front desk very apathetic; no greeting, no smile, no thank you. Ran an approval on our credit card before we had the chance to change it (called in advance to ask if we could change card. Clerk was too lazy to do it over the phone and told us we could do it at check in). Decor in room is... more

Girl's weekend ~ After reading a ton of reviews, I was a bit nervous as to what to expect. I did know to ask for the Alpine tower versus the Aspen tower. I was glad we did. The Aspen tower is located behind the Alpine Tower. The Alpine is the main hotel and casino. You have to drive to the... more

"Tahoe's Best Kept Secret" -- That's what it says on the website of the Horizon Casino Hotel. After such a horrible, unpleasant stay in Horizon, they should seriously consider keeping Tahoe's best kept secret, well.... secret. Most of the wedding party and the relatives of the bride (of which I was part of the bridal party) were booked at Horizon... more

This hotel was the WORST PLACE we have ever stayed in. The room(322) was dirty and the carpet was stained and coming up in places around the room. There was used soap in the soap dish and there was blood stains on the shower curtain. The ceiling in the bathroom was crumbing. The carpet needed vacuuming and there were food... more
