Hi

We are staying at the Fairmont in August for 3 days; a few questions;

1. Would you recommend any particular rooms?

2. What are the restaurants like in the hotel?

3. Are there other restaurants you would recommend (we eat all sorts and are foodies!)

4. Is it best to change currency locally and to take sterling travellers cheques?

5. We are there only for a short break; what is recommended as the must sees and dos for first timers?

6. What is the health spa like?

Any other tips greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

1. Can't answer that one sorry.

2. Spectrum on One and the Exchange Grill are excelent

3. Take a look at Time Out Dubai. There are hundreds of fabulous restaurants in Dubai. Near to you I would recommend Teatro at the Towers Rotana, Latino House at the Al Murooj Rotana, Bastakiah Nights at the Heritage Village, The Boardwalk at the Dubai Creek Yacht and Golf Club and so many more.

Vu's bar at the Emirates Tower hotel across the road is also good.

4. It is best to change currency locally and I wouldn't bother with travellers cheques - just use your cash card at the ATMs

5. The Heriatage Village, a ride across the creek on an abra, a visit to the Burj, the mall of the emirates and the indoor ski slope

6. The health sps is good but there are 2 others quite close to you that IMO are better. The spa at the Grand Hyatt hotel and Cleopatra's day spa at Wafi Pyramids

If you are planning on being there on a friday, book into their Friday Brunch in Spectrum on One. It's one of the best in Dubai. Make sure you book two weeks in advance. I just tried to book in with four days notice and they are full, even in the summer.

J&J

We stayed at the Fairmont at the end of April beg of May this year and we loved it. We have always stayed on the beach before now at The Al Qasr adn this time was a last minute thing and couldn't get in so our next option was the Fairmont because we always eat there everytime we go to Dubai.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite Gold room and the room was huge. I found the difference in cost wasn't a huge one from a room to a suite and we upgraded to the gold room on arrival which worked out very reasonable. The one bed suites have a lounge/dining area and a toilet and then there is the bedroom and bathroom. We were on floor 20 and the room was 2008 which we were pleased as it was easy to remember !!!!!

There are two pool areas sunrise and sunset both are exactly the same except different coloured cushions. They bring drinks and fruit around every now and again complimentary as do the other hotels.

The gold room is worth it in my opinion but it is each to their own.

As others have posted Spectrum on One Friday brunch is fantastic but you do have to book in advance.

The exchange bar and grill is probably our favourite restaurant ever we have only eaten there twice but the food is outstanding and the service and venue more than matches it. It is not cheap but well worth it. CinCin bar is also a nice place for a drink too.

If you need any more info please give me a shout xx
