This turned out to be a complete result. The view that greeted me when I got in the room was unbelievable and made the whole thing seem like excellent value for money. The hotel was well placed in walking distance of Ginza and a couple of minutes stroll from an underground station.

Like the other reviewer said the bed was indeed quite hard - but I like a hard bed so was happy. Also I had two pillows, one very hard, one very soft so no complaints there.

Went to the bar one evening (you know - looking for Scarlett Johanson!) and couldnt get in as was full, but had a quick look out the window and discovered it had exactly the same view as my room - but a couple of floors down so it didnt matter at all.

Only criticism is that the hotel feels a bit 80's still, but that is a minor complaint at this price, with that view and the excellent position.

Stayed here for my first visit to japan. I'm just a tourist, looking for a decent hotel. This hotel happened to come in a package deal from a major online trip service.

The location of the hotel is a little out of the way. If you don't mind walking a couple blocks to the subway, then this place is a great deal. The views are astounding, the hotel staff is friendly, and the room comes with serveral amenities, including english t.v., a massage chair (see below), a desk, chair, table, medium sized bathroom, robes, shoes, etc etc. The hotel is also located near the fish market, and several convenient 24 hour stores - for those late night sake, beer, and american-food runs.

Now, for the downsides. I must first state - more than anything - that there is a reason why you get a massaging chair in every room - it's because the mattress and pillows are complete crap. The mattress is overly firm with springs that make a lot of "springy" noises (even as you breathe) and the pillows are as fluffy and comfortable as a cement brick. Get my drift? I woke up with a stiff neck every morning, and it wasn't enjoyable.

Secondly, they give you this iron "press" that's supposed to iron/press your clothing. Don't bother with it. The press gets as hot as a carton of "famous fast food maker" french fries, sitting under a heat lamp, for 8 hours. It's rather warm, and certainly not hot enough to press wrinkles out of your clothes. Do what I did, and go downstairs to beg for an iron.

I personally would not stay at this hotel again, due soley to their mattresses. Other than that, it's a great deal, and a bargain. I would recommend this place, if and only if, the mattresses were better.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the New Hankyu Tokyo for our first three nights in Japan. The staff speaks good English and was very friendly. The room was much larger than we had expected. The extremely hot water was especially nice after our long flight. The hotel is within a 5-10 minute walk to the Tsukiji subway station. We received an English language newspaper at our door each morning which was nice.

On a flying business trip to Tokyo I was booked in to this hotel by my Japanese business partner. It was the first time I had stayed there and I was pleasantly surprised. While the hotel is a short taxi ride from some of the restaurants etc it is well within walking distance of the Ginza and only 5 min walk from the subway. Roomas are spacious and very well appointed. I had a fabulous view across to Tokyo Bay from the 34th floor and the staff were friendly and spoke good english.
I am returning in October and plan to stay there again.
