Business serviceWe stayed here for one night between 2 cruises because they have a coin operated laundrette and they are near the port. Lovely room overlooking pool and beach. Excellent service from very friendly staff. Got 155 dollar rate through priceline - great value but not sure it's worth the 300 dollar we should have paid!

Business serviceJust got back from a 5 night stay in San Juan. We couldn't have been more pleased with the Marriott. First of all, the location is fantastic. The Condado district is just 10 minutes from the airport, and 10 minutes from Old San Juan. Within a 4 block radius, there must be at least 25 restaurants to choose from. All types of cuisines, Sushi, Argentinean, Italian, Mexican, and Puerto Rican. There is also a small grocery store/liquor store and a Walgreen’s within a block or two.
The hotel itself was very comfortable. The room was large and comfortable. It looks like it had been recently renovated. Very comfortable bed, granite counters in the bathroom, small refrigerator, and a large plasma TV with about 30 US satellite TV stations. The in-room wireless internet was as fast as back home.
The pool area was very nice, and well maintained. There was never a problem getting a chair by the pool. The beach was beautiful. It was very easy to get beach chairs and an umbrella. Even though the waves were a bit rough, there were plenty of people swimming in the ocean. The bars in the pool areas were great. Never a problem getting a drink, and made a wide variety of tropical cocktails.
We ate at the La Vista restaurant for breakfast. They had an $18 breakfast buffet option, that was very good. Made to order omelets, Belgian waffles, fresh fruit, pastries, OJ, very good coffee. There were so many other dining options surrounding the hotel, why bother eating at the hotel for lunch or dinner.
The casino was very good. It was open 24 hours a day. They had about 10 blackjack tables. Several at the $5 and $10 level. With good blackjack rules (dealer stands on soft 17). They also had a $5 craps table. Sign up for their player’s club when you get there. We earned about $75 in food comps, just by playing a couple of hours a day.
All in all, a great place to stay. An great value at $250/night (including the daily resort fee) for an ocean front room through Expedia.

Business serviceWe stayed at the Marriott San Juan in May of 2008. We were departing San Juan on a 7-night cruise, and chose to stay at this hotel before and after the trip. The hotel is located in the Condado Beach area with easy access to beaches and historical Old San Juan. The hotel has a wonderful two-tiered outdoor pool for swimming and lounging around. It also has it's own beach if you prefer swimming in the ocean. The hotel is very clean and kept up very well. The rooms are spacious with large bathrooms, and very comfortable beds. I would highly recommend this hotel to all travelers!
I was a little skeptical in spite of all the good reviews but to my surprise they were all true. The hotel is immaculate and there seems to always be somebody around painting, repairing, etc..
We were given a room high up as requested, and the view from the 14th floor was breathtaking, from the city, the beach and the ocean.
The pool is very good although somewhat shady. However the beach is right there if you want a lot of sun.
The customer service is excellent, even the maids smile and appear happy as they work. They pay a lot of attention to detail all the time, one of the employees called the elevator when he saw us walking in that direction.
Also, the location is very good for several reasons,
the bus stop to go to Old San Juan was really close (bus B21), there was a Walgreen's as you walk to the right of the hotel, a couple of blocks beyond a mini supermarket.
If you like dancing it's ideal, they have different live bands from Weds until Sunday and their mojitos are delicious.
There are several restaurants very close, the one right in front of the hotel is Miro, it is Catalan (from Spain) and even though the outside looked somewhat gaudy on Saturday night (with loud band and extra lights) had really good food, great service and pleasant seating inside.
And if you walk to the left or to the right you will find several restaurants not very expensive. At the hotel we tried the restaurant La Isla, by the pool and their sandwiches were very decent. However we tried the restaurant La Vista (bottom of hotel) and were very disappointed. I had black beans soup that was very salty and my husband Cesar salad with grilled chicken, the salad very acidic and the chicken was lukewarm and tough, I would not recommend it.
Also if you are interested in renting a car you can get one in the hotel (expensive) or call Target Rental, a local office and they will come to pick you up, to the hotel or the airport, very reasonable prices and great service. (We rented a compact for $30 a day) But check with your insurance company and make sure you are covered in Puerto Rico. We went to el Yunque, it was very easy to get to and very interesting. And Arecibo was really cool also.
We will definitely be back to Puerto Rico, there is much to discover.
