“Another Great Stay at Dreams”

This was our second trip to Dreams in a year and this trip was even better than last year! It just keeps getting better. The week before we left it had rained all week in PV but when we arrived on June 13th we were meet with Sunny skies and it stayed that way all 9 days while we were there. We stayed in the older tower like last year and had 2 great rooms. Our maid,Lupita, was wonderful. Our rooms were always spotless. They are doing a lot of work on the outside and inside of the older tower, but it didn't bother us at all. Every morning there were new Spring Air mattresses lined up to go up and be replaced. I checked out our bed and it was new. Everything about this resort is wonderful, from the grounds, the beach, swimming pools, food (yummy yummy food!), hotel staff, entertainment, I could go on and on. If you want a fun relaxing vacation, Dreams is a wonderful place to go to get just that. I read some of the negative reviews about Dreams and I always wonder if the reviewer stayed at the same place as we did. We are going back in the spring of 09 and I'm already counting the days!

“Beautiful”

Since I have been using your fellow reviews to base my decision upon going to Dreams, I thought I would give my two cents as well.

My boyfriend and I went for 7 days 6/18-6/24 and stayed at the new tower in a regular Jr. suite room. Upon arrival, we had requested for a king bed and a higher floor through several emails and a letter. (Hint of Advice: Their email system seems to be a little faulty because when using Gmail we did not receive a response but Msn Hotmail did the trick and I received a response within a couple of hours.) Well despite all the emailing, little did I know that I would not get either requests. When we got there, Karen (our front desk personnel) told us that they were overbooked and we were stuck with double beds on the first floor. A polite call to the manager did the trick and the next day we were moved to a new room.

Weather:
Despite Tstorms and bad weather showing on weather.com, most days were sunny and if they weren't it eventually cleared up in the afternoons. I don't recall seeing a drop of rain.

Room:
The property itself was very well maintained and beautiful. I cant say much for the older tower but in the 2 different rooms I stayed at in the new tower, I'd say its pretty nice and well maintained. They even have those magnified mirrors with lights in the bathroom so you can do your makeup more precisely. Theres was a small crack in the tile, and little flaws here and there but they were so minor that I didn't even notice it until my boyfriend had pointed it out. Whatever the case was it didn't bother us. What did bother me a little bit was that the maid would start cleaning very early in the morning and the first 3 nights I was unable to sleep past 9am. There was a lot of banging and shifting of furniture on the upper floors which woke us up. If you like to sleep in, ear plugs should do the trick.

Food:
Out of all the restaurants at Dreams, we only went to three, Seaside Grill, Oceana and World Cafe, all were good. The appetizers that I highly recommend is the calamari and coconut shrimp at the Seaside Grill and the Smoked Salmon at Oceana. Mmmmm.... Like most people said, the World Cafe is great for Breakfast, try to get a table closer inside since sitting out closer to the sand only brings more flies to your food and you'll find yourself swapping your arms around between bites. (The same advice is heeded to all other restaurants as well and bug repellent before going into the resturants is highly recommened.) Dress code weren't really enforced. Lunch is ok but it can get quite busy around 12 at noon. For dinner I would advise to go before 8:30pm as everyone seems to rush in after that time.

Private Romantic Dinner:
Since we were celebrating our 5 year anniversary we paid for the romantic dinner they offered. See pictures. Price ranges from 160 to 200 dollars depending on the menu you choose. Some might say it's not worth it since it is an all inclusive resort, but I recommend it if you are looking for a romantic experience. =)

Entertainment/Activity:
There are plenty of daily activities just make sure you read the newsletter everyday. I believe Kayaking is including at the resort but if you want to para sail or jet ski you would have to approach the men under the umbrella in front of the beach. The Jet ski goes for 30min for $65 dollars; be careful of the waves since they are quite strong and we ended up capsizing. (Lol) Para sailing costs $60 individually for 15 minutes. Nightly entertainment consists of casino night, circus night, fireshow, etc. They usually run no later than 10 to 11pm but after that I wasnt able find anything to do besides the 2 bars that were opened until 2am. Day time was great but night life was a downside for us.

Spa:
In my opinion the spa at Dreams was a little overpriced and through Travelocity we were promised 100 dollars toward the Spa. Even with that we had to pay 50 dollar individually for a massage. Without coupons a massage can range from 90 to 140 and a facial will cost you 100+. Better to just browse around downtown to check out your options, the one I found in town did a MUCH better job for only 35 dollars.

Overall I would say this is a great resort. Although I dont think I will be returning to this particular resort since I like to see new things, I wouldnt mind seeing their other locations. Great food, great service at a beautiful location. One of my best vacations to date.

“Very American”

I traveled with my husband and two friends and we stayed for two weeks at Dreams. We arrived on may 24th and left on june 8th. The weather was ok, sun and clouds with heavy rain on our last night. Tempratures of about 88degrees.We decided to relax around the quiet adults pool wich turned out to be very rowdy with loud american men shouting to each other and boasting about how drunk they were. After a couple more days of their noise we decided to try the beach, it was quieter but the beds didn't have pads on so we were slightly numb after a few hours. There were a lot of wasps on the beach and I got stung. I think the glasses need clearing away quicker as the wasps may be attracted by the fruit that is in every drink. As already mentioned by other people the resort is a little dated and due a facelift. Our room was in the old tower with a balcony and we found it ok and clean with a fabulous sea view.(room 1525) The food was delicious in all restaurants with a good choice. The only bar open after dinner was the rendezvous bar next to the reception (I will not mention the sports bar as it was so smelly and hot we only tried it once). The bar entertainment was a pianist and we actually tried to avoid him by going to dinner when he started and returning when he had finished. The waitresses were the most unfriendly people in the hotel with the exception of Janet who was a delight at all times. We sometimes avoided the bar after dinner as it was so noisy with shouting americans. We really thought we could have been in America and not Mexico. We found the clientele, in general to be very loud and quite rude to the staff. Because of this I will not be returning to Mexico.

stayed at dreams for 2 weeks from 2nd may.
good points:
hotel check in fine and fast.sparkling wine and cool towel on arrival.
room clean and comfy with balcony..old tower.
food was quite good, you did get fed up of it after first week tho!!
liked jacuzzi pool, was warm enough, and liked small sheltered pool on front of old tower.(altho quite cold!!!)
most of staff very friendly.
beach was clean..altho by night time was covered in ciggie butts.
in general, found hotel, clean and tidy and in good repair.
loved location, just 10 mins from downtown.
taxis were very cheap!!loved pv town.
not so good:
ocean very choppy(not hotels fault tho)water temp was ok.
drinks..horrible.far too strong(we are british and like our booze strong as well!!!), they did not no the meaning of normaal measures and it spoilt the drinks..we lived on cola!!
only one bar open after 1am..sports bar..very dirty and grubby and in the bowels of the hotel!!
rendevous bar staff(the girls), very very unfriendly, the worst we ever had..tipping did not cheer their faces up either.
do not put your knife and fork or drink down when you are eating..it will be cleared away!!!
pressure to tip all the time..we only tip when we get good service..not too get good service.
no robes in room...had to ask 3 times.
room card broke on 2nd week, took a full day to get it sorted.
you have to drink out of disgusting plastic glasses all the time, they really smelled bad, i think the dishwasher was rotting them
there is a very busy road running behind the hotel..very noisy with delivery trucks at all hours
beach vendors..really annoying, constanly asking you to buy tat, we thought it was a private beach with only two or three..not so, we counted 15 on one day, however they are not rude, just said no thankyou.
nothing to do with hotel, but the hustelers which stand outside their shops in pv are very aggressive..even if you are polite with them..we were called idiots on one occasion, just because we did not wanna buy anything!!

all in all, it was a good holiday, we got good weather, the hotel was in a good location.there are always some little niggles, it would not stop us from going to dreams again.

“Best Entertainment Staff”

The food was outstanding in every restaurant. The beach and ocean were perfect for relaxing and playing in the waves.

By far the best part of our trip was the staff of Omar (tennis pro),
Alejandro Lamadriel Olivares (Alex), Manny, Hector, Carmen, and Jose the bartender at the Barracuda Bar. Our maid Norma was also a joy.

My seventeen year old son had the time of his life, and made lifelong friends.

If we ever get the chance, this is our first choice for our next vacation.
