This hotel is located in the Microcentro district, approximately 1 KM from the seaport, and can be walked, but with nighttime traffic, it is recommended to take a cab. The hotel staff was very courteous when we arrived during the night, and all the reception staff speaks English. I was impressed when I walked through the door at the cleanliness of the lobby (plus a doorman at the front).
The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. We had a Standard room and it had basic amenities, such as alarm clock, electronic safes, internet connection (for a fee), and full length mirrors (my wife enjoyed that). It had AC, as well as push out windows if you want fresh air. Outside noise was not much of a problem, but I would still recommend ear plugs to light sleepers. The bathroom had all toiletries and a hair dryer. The hotel also has a turn down service at night (served with chocolate), and the television selections include multiple English selections, including BBC, British CNN, and dubbed US programs.
The hotel has an array of services for guests. There is free internet available in the lobby 24 hours a day, and the hotel staff can make arrangements on any tour you wish to go in town (and also get you tickets to a Boca Juniors or River Plate game if you’re up for one). Additionally, if you are taking an overnight trip to another location in Argentina, you can leave your excess luggage with them without charge. The breakfast is recommended and offers a full selection of eggs, meats, coffee, yogurt and pastries.
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. I think the staff was the best part – the most friendly and helpful that I met during our South American trip. Also, take their advice on restaurants in the area – they recommended the al Carbon three blocks west from the hotel and it was one of the best meals we had on our trip. Additionally, the hotel is walking distance from the Calle Florida shopping area, Plaza de Mayo, as well as the Alem Subte (metro) station, giving you access to the rest of the city. For the price you pay (about 120 USD in OCT 2007), this has to be the best deal in Buenos Aires.
