My husband, daughter and I stayed at the Miyazato Inn in March this year for three nights and had a wonderful stay. Jorge and Elizabeth were so friendly and welcoming that every day when we returned from our trips it felt like coming home. They were chatty, provided tea and delicious cake and had lots of information on trips. Although, when we first arrived, we thought we were way out of town and my husband was worried, it was the way the taxi had to bring us and on foot it was just five minutes on a well-lit road. It was quiet and peaceful at night and the breakfasts were fresh and lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and hope we have the opportunity to go back. Miyazato Inn is located several minute-walk from the town center--quite convenient but you can also enjoy quiet and private feeling. There are only five rooms, so you will get a good hospitality by Mr and Mrs Miyazato who speak Spanish, English and Japanese. They will help you book tours and other arrangement you wish. The rooms are very clean with two beds and private bathroom. Breakfast is also nice--100% orange juice, coffee/tea, danish, breads--basic but good quality. Ask them for Japanese lunch box if you are off to a full day tour. It is not cheap, but it will be a refreshing change if you are tired of Argentine steaks.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Miyazato Inn for four days while we explored the Los Glaciares national park. Jorge and Elizabeth are excellent hosts - incredibly accomodating and really efficient. They sorted all our trips out for us which took all the hassle out of things and saved us time. The Inn is very clean and comfortable and reasonably priced. It is about five minutes walk from the main strip so it's a bit quieter too, which is useful as the organised trips involve early pick-ups. I would recommend this to anyone.
We did both the boat tour to see Upsala and Spegatzini and the Big Ice trek on Perito Moreno (you can also do a shorter version of this called Mini Trekking, which you need to do if you are under 45 due to their age restrictions, regardless of your fitness). If you are pressed for time you should just do Perito Moreno, as it's much prettier and more impressive. The only real advantage of doing the boat tour is that you can see some very blue icebergs. Don't worry about taking all the wet weather kit and boots, as you can hire it from the shop on the road from Miyazato Inn leading to the main street - on the right next to the pizza/empanada shop. But if you have trail shoes already they will be fine - the crampons are old-fashioned ones which are attached by straps wound round your boots rather than hitched on the back.

I stayed in the Miyazato Inn three times in February 2008 as I used it as a base to explore different parts of Patagonia. Before I booked I read good comments on tripadvisor.com, and I can absolutely confirm the very good rating. The hosts Elizabeth and Jorge are very friendly people, and I felt like staying with friends. The whole place is very clean, the breakfast delicious, and the general impression is just fantastic. I would definitely stay here for a fourth time.
