Puerto Plata

The good and the bad of Puerto Plata;

Puerto Plata is really great. It has amazing culture and the people there are kind and warmhearted.

When you arrive at the airport it is a good idea to already have something arranged for your pick-up. DO NOT let anyone there touch your luggage!!! This is a huge one: creepy people trying to take your luggage and stuff into there vans so that they can drive you to their hotel.    BUT, if the transportation is included in your package, you can let the airport porters carry your luggage to the bus assigned to you by your travel agent.  Just follow them to the specified bus.  The porters are well identified and for a little tip, they will make sure that your luggage gets on the right bus.  $2 per bag is usually enough.  They are trying to make a living too!  If you have never been anywhere warm or tropical like the Dominican Republic, the palm trees are very overwhelming but you get used to the big trees towering over you.

There are so many great things to do once you get to your hotel. You can enjoy the beach or get ready for one of the many tours your hotel may or may not offer. The Jungle Tour that goes to the waterfalls is really fun.

Basically, to have an ideal vacation, pick something that you think would be fun, plan it and have a good time because vacation goes way too fast!
