WATER BASED TOURS

Rumrunner is a motorised sailing catamaran, and Odyssey, a power boat which both offer reef trips to Mackay and Undine Cays, two of the most spectacular and unspoiled coral islands and reefs in Queensland, only 60 minutes offshore. Tropical buffet lunch, snorkeling equipment and transfers included. Optional introductory, certified diving and guided dives are also available.

Paddletrek - Leaves from Cape Tribulation Beach and paddles south around the Cape, and then returns. You may see turtles, dolphins, whales and manta rays.   Includes a stop for morning or afternoon tea. Departs at 8.30 am and 2 pm daily, weather permitting, and lasts for 3.5 hours.

Sea Kayaks - An adventurous 3 hour guided adventure which heads north from the Camping Ground around the rocky Cape Tribulation headland by open deck sea kayak. Pick up. You can also hire kayaks by the hour from the camping ground.

Cape Tribulation Wilderness Cruises - Located 20 minutes drive south. This is the only river boat tour permitted in the Cape Tribulation section of the Daintree National Park. The boat takes you through 9 kilometres of mangrove looking for crocodiles and birds. Lasts for one hour. Times vary depending on the season. Highly recommended in winter at low tide.

Dan Irby’s Mangrove Adventure - Sunset cruise on the Daintree River to spot crocodiles and birds roosting. Leaves from Daintree Eco-Lodge on the south side of the Daintree River 6-8pm. Recommended. You can combine this with a visit to Daintree Village timber museum in the afternoon, and dinner at the Ecolodge (expensive) after the cruise.

RAINFOREST FOCUS

Cooper Creek Wilderness Guided Day and Night Tours - Coopers Creek is the best of the Daintree Rainforest - the heart of the 135-million year old living museum on a natural walking trail. World Heritage Nature Reserve with Advanced Ecotourism Accreditation. Two-hour Guided, Interpreted Day Tours - 9.00 am, 2.00 pm. Two-hour Guided, Interpreted Night Tours - 8.00 pm.  Highly recommended.

Coopers Creek Full Day Package - It is possible to do a day tour and combine the Coopers Creek cruise, the walk, lunch at Heritage Lodge, a swim in a crystal clear pool on Coopers Creek, and transfers if required. Minimum of 2 for transfers. If you have no transport, this provides a wonderful day out in spectacular forest, with door to door service.

Cape Trib Horse Rides - Ride along Myall Beach and through rainforest with a swim in a freshwater swimming hole. Approx 4 hours.. Pick up from your accommodation. Experienced riders get to trot and canter the horses. You must state riding ability on making the booking.

Masons  Tours – Mason's Tours are run by descendants of the original family to settle the Cape Tribulation Valley, and they have a spectacular 170ha property with a boundary with both World Heritage areas. Masons offer a Half Day Walk, a 2 Hour walk and the only Night Walk which includes Croc Spotting in the rainforest valley of Myall Creek, inland from Mason's Shop. Also available are 1/2 and Full Day 4WD Safaris along the Bloomfield Track, all of which include an Aboriginal Guided Walk at Bloomfield Falls by Walker's Tours, an Indigenous Operator based at Wujal Wujal.

The Bat House - Located opposite PK’s Village, this is a rainforest interpretation centre staffed by volunteers. Open between 10 - 3pm. There is a live fruit bat on display. Entry $4. Worth a visit. It is recommended that you go early during your stay.

Jungle Adventure Nightwalk - Walking trail on private rainforest at Cape Tribulation, graded easy to moderate for people with a medium level of fitness. Spotlights and raincoats provided. 7.30 - 10pm. Free pick up.

Daintree Environment Centre - Includes a canopy tower and a canopy walkway, with interpretation centre. It’s possible to spend 3-4 hours here. Recommended for non-english speakers as commentary provided

Four Wheel Drive Tours - It is possible to join a half day tour north of Cape Trib on the Bloomfield Track, and also a full day tour to Cooktown with Mason's Tours

Jungle Surfing - Glide through the canopy along a series of flying fox cables or zip lines. Will pick up. Morning and afternoon session.

Noah Valley Trek  - A half day hike up to the Noah Creek Falls. Information is provided along the way about the rainforest you are walking through. This is for serious walkers who like hiking.

OTHER STUFF

Cape Trib Exotic Fruit farm - Fruit Tasting The farm offers a fruit tasting and farm tour every day at 4 pm. You need to book to confirm your place. There are ten different fruits on the menu, which come from places such as the Amazon and Borneo. The tasting is followed by a walk around the permaculture orchard. Great value and one of the cheapest and most unique tours in the area.

Mason's Cape Tribulation Tourist Information Centre and Shop - has a great range of groceries, souvineers, and local tea, coffee and other products. The Store incorporates Cape Tribulation Bottleshop, the only place you can get Takeaway alcohol at Cape Trib. In the same builsing is Myall Creek Takeaway  which sells a good range of mostly fairly heathy food, with large servings. There is also a small Information Centre attached, where you can get lots of free maps and info, and book tours. A large freshwater swimming hole can be acessed from the shop too - it is a great one-stop place!

Daintree Ice-cream Company Located 28 minutes drive to the south. Buy home made ice-creams made from exotic tropical fruit. Open between 11—5 pm.

The Internet - You can surf the net at Mason's Store,Dragonfly, PK’s Village, and the Beach House. The computers at Dragonfly are set above the restaurant on the mezzanine floor, which has a cool breeze and a lovely ambience. There is also a reading area with a large selection of paper backs and a lounge.

Yoga - During the season Yoga is held on the beach and weekly at Coconut Beach on Wednesday night between 6 – 7pm.

Daintree Insect Museum – located in the Cooper Creek area so it is possible to combine this with other activities in the vicinity. A large collection of butterflies and insects.
